Royal Mail Missed Delivery Text Scams

Fake Royal Mail texts about a missed delivery or invalid address are designed to trick you into clicking a link that steals your personal details.

What is happening?
A text message arrives claiming to be from Royal Mail, telling you that your parcel has been held because of an unclear delivery address, or that a delivery attempt was missed. It provides a link to verify your address or rearrange delivery. That link leads to a fake website that steals your information.

Why does this scam work?
Most people are expecting a parcel at any given time. A message about a delivery problem feels entirely plausible and prompts an immediate response. The fake websites are often convincing copies of the real Royal Mail site.

Warning signs:
A text from an unknown number about a missed delivery or address problem. A link asking you to enter personal or payment details to rearrange delivery. Any text creating urgency around a parcel you may or may not be expecting.

What to do:
Do not click the link. If you are genuinely expecting a parcel from Royal Mail, go directly to royalmail.com by typing the address yourself and use the tracking number from your original order confirmation. You can report scam texts by forwarding them to 7726.
